First of all a person needs to have a demat account, which is opened by a stock broking firm.The documents required to open the demat account are:

Bank a/c 

Cheque book of the same bank a/c

PAN card

Address proof ( Voter id, residence certificate from BDO)

Xerox of last 6 months transactions from the bank

2-3 photos.
